I’ve been teaching and mentoring for almost as long as I’ve been writing.

My first teaching gigs were with corporations and federal agencies, where I trained technical teams in software development and communication. Over the years, that expanded into business-writing workshops, creative mentorship for authors, and one-on-one guidance for people working through complicated writing and communication challenges.

The audiences have changed. The core of the work hasn’t.

How I Work

I’m a careful listener and a strong interviewer.

Often, the most useful thing I can do is understand what someone is trying to accomplish before jumping in with answers. Clients have told me they value having someone who can see the shape of what they’re trying to do, sometimes before they can fully see it themselves.

My approach leans toward personal, practical, and structured rather than one-size-fits-all. I do my best to meet people where they are, ask the questions that help clarify the real problem, and then work with them toward concrete next steps.

Corporate Training & Workshops

For organizations that want their teams to communicate more clearly and effectively.

I’ve taught in corporate and government settings across both technical and creative disciplines. Workshops can be tailored to the needs of a particular team or organization and may include:

• Storytelling for brands, leaders, and internal communications
• Finding and maintaining a consistent organizational voice

Writing & Creative Mentorship

For writers who want experienced guidance as they develop, strengthen, or finish a project.

I work with novelists, memoirists, nonfiction authors, and other creative writers on issues such as:

• Structure, voice, character, and theme
• Developmental feedback on works in progress
• Creative blocks and resistance
• Clarifying what a piece is really about
• Strengthening confidence and creative decision-making
• Developing a sustainable writing process

Sometimes the obstacle is technical. Other times it’s deeper: uncertainty, perfectionism, fear, or losing contact with what originally made the project matter.

The work is always grounded in the writing itself. My role is to help you see the project more clearly and move it forward without imposing my voice on yours.

For people who are interested in the relationship between creativity, attention, and the inner life, I also draw on decades of meditation and exploration of consciousness.

Depending on the person and the project, that can include:

• Meditation and visualization for creative focus
• Working with intuition without abandoning craft or judgment
• Understanding emotional patterns that interfere with the work
• Reconnecting with curiosity and creative energy
• Aligning the work more closely with your deeper values

This isn’t necessary for everyone I work with. It’s simply another dimension I can bring when it’s useful and wanted.
